Roughly 85% of adults worldwide suffer from low self esteem, so if you are reading this, you ARE NOT ALONE. Self-esteem is directly linked to your self concept, as stated by American psychologist Roy Baumeister. Most people struggle with low self esteem due to people telling them that A person's self-respect is the driver behind keeping their self concept intact. When someone's self concept is driven by outside factors or people, it is fragile and easy to break. However, the key of boosting your self concept is cultivating that feeling of self respect from within. This will make it feel more deserving and retain a place of higher value with you. There are many ways to achieve this feeling with simple techniques that will effectively boost your self esteem and keep your self concept intact. You need to replace the negative point of view that you have of yourself with a more positive one. This can be accomplished by writing down your negative thoughts in a journal and asking yourself when you began thinking these thoughts. This is the process of identifying the negative thoughts and actively working against them. Another technique that has proved to be effective is being kind to yourself in those moments where you feel self-critical.

This is another way of being able to challenge these negative thoughts and channelling the positive ones. Other methods to channel positive thoughts include recognizing and doing things that you're good at and spending time with those that you love. These activities will boost your self confidence by doing things that you genuinely love. Taking this advice and doing something with it may seem boring, but they will prove incredibly effective in the long term.
